GREEN TEA OF THE DAY: What I'm Sippy-Sipping Today
Well friends, it is early Sunday afternoon and I'm sitting down to my first cup of tea of the day.
I have decided to do a little series on my favourite green teas. It may not occur every single day, but I do drink the ever-healthy green tea every day. It's just that I don't have an endless supply of flavours of green teas - obviously.
Today I'd like to discuss a tea I received from a tea subscription service that I currently enjoy. The subscription service is from a Canadian company (GO homegrown companies!!!) called TEA SPARROW. For $20/month (includes shipping and taxes) you receive four teas: each of a selection of black, green, oolong and herbal teas. Click here to SUBSCRIBE.
***As a rule, I DO NOT read about the notes as given by the purveyor, or by other tea reviewers. Also, please remember I am NOT a tea sommelier. I simply have been a tea-lover for well over 40 years. I can only speak to what I like and don't like, and why.***
Enough of the logistics! Today's tea is called Jasmine Cherry Green Tea, and it is purveyed by the Tea Desire company.
Upon first sniff and sip, I get a mild flowery aroma. Not enough so that the tea tastes soapy (I occasionally find some Earl Grey and hibiscus teas make me feel as if I dropped an f-bomb in the early 70s when it was usual to have one's mouth washed out with soap after cursing). The soft smell of jasmine is obviously present. I think this might be the kind of tea that requires a little sweetening for me to enjoy it better. Next time I try this tea, I will add some honey to see if the cherry flavour is more pronounced. Unfortunately, unsweetened, I just seem to be looking for something else. It is not balanced to me.
I don't absolutely dislike this Jasmine Cherry Green Tea, so I will give it another try, sweetened. As is, I would give it 2/5* - leaving room for redemption.
Thanks for tuning in tea-lovers!
Peace and love,
T
